City of Harrisburg, Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County, PA

Project Description:
Traffic impact studies and traffic signal designs
175,000 gsf Exhibit Hall
68,200 gsf Equestrian Arena
57,000 gsf Horse Barns

Engineering Activities:
Grove Miller Engineering, Inc. completed traffic impact studies and traffic signal designs for the expansion to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in the City of Harrisburg, and for the off-site parking area in Susquehanna Township. The expansion included an exhibit hall, an equestrian arena and horse barns. The off-site parking area included approximately 2,200 parking spaces with shuttle service provided to the Complex. Traffic engineering activities included collecting traffic data, documenting trip generation potential for major events, distributing and diverting site generated trips, developing future design year traffic projections, analyzing future design year traffic demands, performing accident analyses, recommending roadway and traffic control improvements, presenting study report results and recommendations to municipal and state officials, preparing preliminary (permit) and final (construction) traffic signal plans, and providing construction consultation. Eight (8) intersections within the study area were analyzed in conjunction with the expansion project. Traffic signal designs were completed for three (3) site access intersections.
